Bradley’s thoughts on a cross-country trip by train

I was in St. Louis for a train break yesterday. Sitting in the observation car I bonded with some new friends at we were,frantically, taking photos of the St. Louis Arch. I took a lot of photos but this one captured what the Arch looks like from a railroader’s perspective on Amtrak. I’m noticing common infrastructure surrounding the railroads more as I travel through the cities on my rail route. There are blue collar jobs that support the large cities like Dallas or Fort Worth to little ones like Cleburn, which I’m pulling into at this moment. I can’t help but question where the infrastructure is in the borough of Manhattan in which I grew up, more specifically the neighborhood of the East Village.
